Biography

Dr. Johan Evers works as senior Export Control Coordinator at imec (Belgium), a world-leading research and innovation center in nanoelectronics and digital technologies. From 2015 to 2021, he worked as technical export control analyst at the department of Chancellery & Foreign Affairs (Flanders, Belgium). He represented Belgium in the Wassenaar Arrangement (Technical Expert Group), and he was seconded to the European Commission (Directorate General for Trade) as policy officer for dual-use export controls. He assisted in the EU dual-use export control policy review. Dr. Evers chaired the working group on EU industry compliance guidance for dual-use export controls and co-chaired the working group on EU compliance guidance for research involving dual-use items. Dr. Evers started his career at the Flemish Parliament (Belgium) as project manager in the area of knowledge-based policymaking about issues involving new and emerging technology. He holds a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from KY Leuven (Belgium).
